Whilst they weren’t the cheapest by any means, we were very pleased we opted for them and felt our large loft conversion and double height rear extension was great value for money and the finish is exactly what we hoped for. From the initial consultation through to confirming the starting date and deadline for work completion they were professional, personable and efficient. As they have the majority of trades on the payroll they were able to re-jig inevitable schedule changes with a high degree of flexibility enabling our build to remain on schedule – no mean feat given it was just before Christmas! All the guys on site were very polite and considerate and Steve, Nick and team are easy to work with and resolve any difficulties quickly and fairly. “I’m pleased to make the following comment about Steve Wright and Daughter…
On the agreed start date workers and materials duly arrived so the process of converting our loft began. We were amazed at the process and skills of the workers, creating their own roof door every day and retiling it at night they hardly ever needed to use the front door. This allowed most of the dust and assembly work to be undertaken outside and then transferred to the loft via the roof door keeping the house clean. The job proceeded very smoothly and was quite exciting as we were encouraged to look at how it was progressing and when necessary given every opportunity to make decisions (from the size of the windows to the positioning of the lights, sockets, radiators etc) and felt fully involved. All the worker’s were very polite and respected our property and we were soon on first name terms with them all. We also noticed how each of them took health and safety issues very diligently and how the company made regular inspections, which we found reassuring. It was not long before our confidence in the company was such that we were commissioning additional works to the rest of the house; nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I just spoke to Nik on one of his regular visits and was given a price within a day or two. At the start we were promised that the conversion would be completed by Christmas and despite all the additional work we had done we were able to have champagne in our son’s new loft bedroom on Christmas morning. For the completed loft conversion we were charged the amount specified in the quotation prior to the start not a penny more. All the additional works to the house were in our view competitively priced and executed in the same diligent manner. We would not hesitate to recommend Steve Wright and Daughter to anyone who requiring a specialist loft converter.”

“In late November we decided to look into the feasibility of a loft conversion. We didn’t realise that we would be given so many different opinions of how such a conversion should look and most importantly where the stairs could or couldn’t go.
Like many others we were about to spend a lot of money and wanted confidence not only with the finished result but also the company that we would ultimately choose to do the job.
The initial visit (by Nik) from Steve Wright & Daughter immediately showed experience and knowledge with a competitive first quotation. The second visit (with an Architect) demonstrated that the stairs could go where we wanted – a position that no other company would entertain. From then on we put the job in the hands of Steve Wright & Daughter and the process could not have been smoother.
We were able to influence the project at every step – from initial layout to the final positions of light and plug sockets, but without the complications of talking to the District Council regarding any planning permissions required and building regulations – it was all handled by Steve Wright & Daughter.
Work started in February to build a full dormer to create a bedroom (with walk in wardrobe) and bathroom plus a renovated en-suite bathroom below. With staff on site every day – sometimes up to 9 at a time, in just 5 ½ weeks the project was complete. As all staff are directly employed by Steve Wright & Daughter it was clear that the project was a “well oiled machine” which clearly shows how such a major project can be completed in such a relatively short space of time. All of the guys were very courteous and approachable and any little snags or queries were attended to quickly.
Our living space as now been transformed and we are delighted with the high quality finished product achieved by clearly a very experienced and successful family business, Steve Wright & Daughter.”

“Before asking Steve Wright& Daughter to plan our loft conversion, we had already had quotes from other loft companies and thought we know what to expect…
However when Nick arrived to draw up the original plans we where impressed with his vision to create as much space as possible within our loft, he also managed to install the stairs without compromising our existing bedrooms, something we had previously been told was not possible.
The work commenced on the start date and all of the contractors appeared to work very hard. They were polite and friendly. They kept us up to date with what was happening and as the build progressed always consulted us as to how we wanted things finished. They kept the disruption to us a low as possible: where possible entering through the roof itself, when they did have to access through the house they covered our carpet with dust sheets. At the end of each day they tidied up both inside and outside. The work was all completed within the time period stated and to a very high standard. We are pleased with the quality and finish of build, the finished rooms exceed our expectations.”
